Chevrolet To Sponsor United On A 7 Year Contract

General Motors and Manchester United today announced that the world's most popular football club's shirt sponsor will be Chevrolet, beginning with the 2014/2015 season.

Chevrolet, the current Official Car Partner of the Club, will become only the fifth shirt sponsor in the Club’s 134 year history.
Announcing the deal, signed for an undisclosed amount, United’s Commercial Director, Richard Arnold, said:
“This is a fantastic, long-term deal for the Club. We have been partners with Chevrolet for only six weeks, but already they have produced some fantastic ideas that will benefit both the partnership and our 659 million followers around the world.  They are a key partner on our current tour and I know they have enjoyed experiencing the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in South Africa, China, and Europe.

"It is a great thrill for those of us who work with partners all year round when an existing partner steps up to being one of our principal partners. This commitment to United and its fans will bring real benefits to everyone who cares about the Club.”

The US-based car company will replace Aon, whose partnership with United began in the 2010/11 season.
Alan Batey, General Motors’ North America Vice President, U.S. Sales and Service said:
“We are extremely proud to connect our brand, Chevrolet, with Manchester United and its passionate supporters all around the world.  Manchester United’s statistics are impressive, but this relationship goes far beyond the numbers – this relationship is about connecting our brand with the deep-seated emotion that surrounds the team everywhere it goes.
"When you consider the core values of Chevrolet, our passionate customers around the world, and our rich 100 year history, the partnership with Manchester United is a perfect fit.  And, to be only the fifth name on the iconic red jersey is a genuine honour.  We very much look forward to the road ahead and the opportunities we have in partnering with such a legendary club.”

Speculations & Transfers Round-Up

Everton has completed the signing of Steven Pienaar from Tottenham on a four-year contract.Pienaar moved to Everton in July 2007 on loan from Bundesliga giant Borussia Dortmund before signing on a permanent basis the following year.

He moved to Spurs in Jan. 2011 but failed to establish himself under Harry Redknapp and subsequently rejoined the Toffees.

"I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton," he told evertontv.

"There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done."

Everton boss David Moyes had revealed earlier in the summer that his main target for the summer was to complete a deal for Pienaar.

The Toffees kick off their Premier League campaign with a tricky home fixture against last season’s runner-up Manchester United.

DEMPSEY ON TO LIVERPOOL?
Clint Dempsey-Fulham FC

Clint Dempsey is out of Fulham’s preseason training camp in Switzerland as he eyes a move to Liverpool.
Dempsey was not on the plane that left London on Monday morning to take part in the week-long trip, leading to further speculation that a transfer to the Reds may be in the works.

It was initially unclear if it was Dempsey's decision or coach Martin Jol's to keep the American off the trip, but a Fulham spokesperson confirmed that Dempsey stayed behind to work on his fitness.

"Clint and Hugo Rodallega are both staying in London to work on their fitness at the training ground. Neither are scheduled to feature in the weekend friendly against Nice which is the reason neither have traveled," a Fulham spokesperson told Goal.com.

Fulham will spend the week in Switzerland ahead of a friendly in neighboring France against Nice on Saturday before returning to the UK.

The 29-year-old has made it clear to Jol and senior Fulham figures that he wants to quit the club for Liverpool, whose manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he has made enquiries about signing the player.

As revealed by Goal.com earlier this month, the attacking midfielder, who scored 17 Premier League goals last season and 23 in all competitions, has rejected Fulham’s offer of a new three year-contract that includes an option for a fourth year.

Dempsey, who moved to west London five-and-a-half years ago, believes that Liverpool’s interest could be the last opportunity he gets to play for one of the elite Premier League clubs.

Nevertheless, he has vowed to remain professional while his future remains in doubt and trained with Fulham’s youth team at its Motspur Park base on Monday morning.

ARSENAL CAN STILL CARRY ON WITH OR WITHOUT RVP-HENRY
EPL - Arsenal vs Blackburn, Thierry Henry
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry hopes Robin Van Persie stays at the club but believes the Gunners are more than capable of coping if the forward departs.

Van Persie, 28, has been heavily linked with a move away after revealing a desire to leave the club earlier in the summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Serie A giant Juventus all interested in a move for the Dutchman.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger remains hopeful of holding on to his star striker but Henry is unsure whether the player will remain at the club.

"We hope he stays and that's the way it is," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News.

"I don't know exactly what is happening but as an Arsenal fan I want him to stay.

"He is still an Arsenal player and the boss has to deal with it. I just want Arsenal to do well. Robin will do what he will do and we'll see.

"When I left, everybody cried, but then the year after they went on a run of being eight points ahead. Everyone comes and goes."

Van Persie has less than a year remaining on his existing contract with the Gunners and has insisted he does not intend to extend his deal beyond the end of the current season.

CESAR DENIES EXIT QUOTES
Julio Cesar - Inter
Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar has intimated that the quotes attributed to him in which he said he was on his way out of the club were fabricated.

The Brazil international has been continuously linked with a move away from Inter since the Nerazzurri signed Samir Handanovic from Udinese in an 11 million euro deal earlier in the month.

Galatasary denies Berbatov move

UEFA Europa League - Manchester United v AFC Ajax, Dimitar Berbatov

Galatasaray dismissed reports that they have submitted a bid to Manchester United for out-of-favour forward Dimitar Berbatov. The former Bulgaria international only made five Premier League starts for the Red Devils last season and recently admitted that it would be best for everyone concerned if he left Old Trafford this summer

Galatasaray then confirmed their interest in acquiring Berbatov, but they have now denied making a formal approach for the 31-year-old striker.

"There have been some reports in the media that Dimitar Berbatov will be transferred to our club," read a statement on the Turkish outfit's official website.

"The club would like to declare that there is no transfer and no attempt has been made in that regard."

Berbatov shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Carlos Tevez in 2010-11 but he featured only sporadically last term after falling down the striking pecking order behind Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

London 2012 Olympics Latests

As we go on day 4 of the London 2012 Olympics, we have already witnessed lots of games lets now take a closer look in the Paralympic games.
Lets see which individuals light up the impressive Olympic Stadium in a range of track and field events, from the rapid 100m and the energy-sapping 10,000m, to the long jump and the high jump.
As well as track and field events, Paralympic athletics includes road events, which will take place beyond the Olympic Stadium, on the streets of London.
The athletics events feature more than 1,000 competitors, who will battle for 166 gold medals in a series of individual and team contests in running, walking, throwing and jumping.

Athletics at the Paralympic Games

One of the stars of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games was Oscar Pistorius. The South African sprinter won 100m, 200m and 400m (T44) gold.
Pistorius caused controversy in 2007 when he entered an international competition for able-bodied competitors and took part in the qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided Pistorius' prostheses gave him an unfair advantage over able-bodied competitors; however this verdict was overturned in May 2008.
Other notable medal wins in the Paralympic Athletics at the 2008 Games included three golds each for Brazil's Lucas Prado (100m, 200m and 400m T11) and South Africa's Hilton Langdenhoven (200m T12, Long Jump F12 and Pentathlon P12).

London 2012 Olympics...Almost There

The Gloriana on the Thames The torch relay is on the last leg of its 70-day journey - along the River Thames

The opening ceremony of the London Olympics is just hours away after seven years of preparations.

The three-hour spectacle in the Olympic Stadium will be viewed by a global TV audience of around a billion people.

The day of celebration began at 08:12 BST with a mass bell ringing. Big Ben rang for three minutes for the first time since King George VI's funeral.

Lord's cricket ground has turned away spectators trying to get in to watch archery amid confusion over ticketing.

The London 2012 website advertised the event's preliminary rounds as "unticketed", which some members of the public interpreted as open to the public.

But Olympic organiser Locog said it had not advertised or sold tickets for the ranking event and had always made it clear preliminary rounds were not open to spectators.

South Korea later claimed the first two world records of London 2012 in the men's team and individual archery.

Meanwhile, the Olympic flame has arrived at City Hall on the Queen's rowbarge Gloriana after first weaving through the maze at Hampton Court Palace and being carried along the Thames on the final day of the torch relay.

The flames's 70-day nationwide journey ends with the lighting of the cauldron during this evening's opening ceremony but the identity of the person who will take on the honour remains a mystery.

Justice: Balfour, Jennifer Hudson's Family Murderer & In-Law, Sentenced For Life

William Balfour
William Balfour, who was convicted for the 2008 murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Hours ago, a Chicago judge gave Balfour three life sentences and denied a request for a new trial. Jennifer Hudson was in the Chicago courtroom for the sentencing. For those wondering why there wasn't an even harsher punishment, Illinois does not have the death penalty.

Balfour was married to Hudson's sister and shot the family members in a jealous rage because she was dating another man.

Transfer Rumours-Latest

NO MOVE FOR MOURA-AGENT
Lucas Moura - Sao Paulo
Wander Roberto/VIPCOMM
The agent of sought after Brazilian star Lucas Moura has moved to quell further speculation on the player’s future after insisting he will not be moving to Manchester United this summer.

United have already had a bid rejected for the attacking midfielder, but are unwilling to increase their offer.
Moura is currently with the Brazilian Olympic team in England and played twenty minutes against Great Britain in a warm up match last Friday at the Riverside Stadium.
Sao Paolo have reportedly slapped a £30 million price tag on the 19 year old and that was sufficient for Sir Alex Ferguson to pull out of negotiations over Moura after a summer of transfer conjecture.
And Wagner Ribeiro, a leading agent in South America, can’t envisage Moura moving anywhere else after United turned their attentions elsewhere and insisted the youngster needs to forget about the speculation.
Ribeiro told UOL, "They [Manchester United] have reached their limit. Lucas Moura won't leave. He is happy at Sao Paulo.”
“We have to forget this subject. There is no possibility he leaves now.”
"Manchester United made an offer, which was rejected and they won't make another one as they have reached their limit."

ARSENAL ON SANTI CARZOLA
Elsewhere, Arsenal has made a rather suprisingly 15.6 Million Pounds Bid On Spain's Santi Carzola.
Arsene Wenger Has Admitted To Be Intereseted On The Spaniard.

AVB ACCEPTS MODRIC'S APOLOGY
Luka Modric has apologised to Tottenham for missing their pre-season tour of USA and is now back in training, a move which Andre Villas-Boas welcomed even if he does not expect the Croatian midfielder to remain with his club.
The Portuguese boss declined to name his side's asking price for their star man, who is being chased by Real Madrid, but gave a revealing insight into the current situation.

"He has spoken to me and the chairman. His apology comes and it is well welcomed," Villas-Boas told reporters after their friendly with LA Galaxy finished in a 1-1 draw.

"He's now training and we hopefully make the right decision in the future. We're just waiting on the bidding clubs to offer the right value for a player of big dimension.

"Modric is of course an extremely good player that has helped Tottenham reach success in the last couple of years.

"I think the fact that it's been difficult for us to deal with clubs is because of Luka's dimension as a player and what he did for the team. He's an extremely good player. Any coach would like to count on a player of that standing."

As it stands Modric will remain in England to train, as Villas-Boas feels that the compressed travel and "tremendous heat" of the remainder of the USA trip would not necessarily help bring the 26-year-old's fitness up to par.

"We decided for him to stay in London. That's something that I have to judge," the former Chelsea boss continued.

"I think it would be unsensible to bring Luka back, but still a decision can be taken."

The 34-year-old manager seems resigned to losing the midfield schemer. Should that come to pass it would hinder Villas-Boas' efforts in his first season with the north London club, according to former Spurs striker Robbie Keane.

"When you're this far across the water it's very difficult to keep track of what things are going on," Galaxy forward Keane said of Modric's situation.

"Listen, if you lose him he's obviously a top, top player. It'd be a shame for Tottenham to lose a top player like him."

THEO'S AGENT YET TO TALK ABOUT NEW CONTRACT
Theo Walcott's Agent Is Yet To Talk About the player's new contract with Arsenal. This not another good sign for Arsenal, as another star sets to leave the club after Robin Van Persie earlier refusing to sign a new contract. The English winger has been linked with amove to Chelsea!

Beckham On role in Olympics Opening, This Friday

David BeckhamFormer England captain David Beckham will have a role in Friday's London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Beckham, 37, would not divulge any details of his role as organisers try to keep the ceremony events secret.
I'll be going back and forward but I'll definitely be trying to get to a few events
David Beckham

He said: "It is some kind of role in the opening ceremony which I am honoured to be involved in because, obviously, I was involved in the start process with this seven years ago.

"And for Seb [Coe] to have kept me involved, I'm very proud of that."
Beckham was a surprise exclusion from Stuart Pearce's GB football squad for the Games.

At the time, London 2012 chief Lord Coe said he would be talking to Beckham about a role during the Olympics.

"David has been an extraordinary supporter - probably our number one supporter - of the Games from the very beginning and is keen to continue his enthusiastic support right to the end," Lord Coe said.

"He is from East London and knows how important the Games and sport are to young people. He is a great role model."

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder also plans to travel back to London to catch some events when he is not on duty for the Major League Soccer side.

"I'll be going back and forward but I'll definitely be trying to get to a few events," Beckham said.

"I was brought up around this side of London and, you know, to actually see the changes that have happened and the excitement that's going on is a proud moment."

Despite missing out on being involved competitively in the Olympics, Beckham hinted he has still not given up hope of playing international football again.

"I'll always have ambitions in football as long as I am playing," he said.

"I might be 37 years old but I still want to continue to win championships, I still want to continue to be the best that I can be and continue to represent my country in any way, shape or form."

Drogba Impressed By Debut, As He Equalises!

Didier Drogba - Shanghai Shenhua

Didier Drogba says he is delighted "everything went right" on his debut appearance for Shanghai Shenhua as he came off the bench to help them earn a 1-1 draw away to Guangzhou R&F in China's Super League on Sunday.

With his side trailing at the break, Drogba came off the bench to great effect, changing the atmosphere of the game before providing a delightful assist for Cao Yunding's 68th-minute equaliser.

"I am happy that everything went right in my first 45 minutes here," Drogba told reporters after the game.

"It was a little bit hard for me to get into the game at the beginning, but when I got used to the rhythm, I began to enjoy the game.

"I am feeling good now and was accustomed to all things in China now. It is very comfortable playing alongside my former team-mate Nicolas (Anelka)."

Meanwhile, opposition striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni claimed that Drogba could inspire Shenhua, who are currently struggling down in 12th, to the title given his impact on debut.
"He showed the quality today you know, he gave more confidence to the team, you have to see the way he played today, when he is 100 per cent, he can help Shanghai win the league," Yakubu said.
