London 2012 Olympics Latests

As we go on day 4 of the London 2012 Olympics, we have already witnessed lots of games lets now take a closer look in the Paralympic games.
Lets see which individuals light up the impressive Olympic Stadium in a range of track and field events, from the rapid 100m and the energy-sapping 10,000m, to the long jump and the high jump.
As well as track and field events, Paralympic athletics includes road events, which will take place beyond the Olympic Stadium, on the streets of London.
The athletics events feature more than 1,000 competitors, who will battle for 166 gold medals in a series of individual and team contests in running, walking, throwing and jumping.

Athletics at the Paralympic Games

One of the stars of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games was Oscar Pistorius. The South African sprinter won 100m, 200m and 400m (T44) gold.
Pistorius caused controversy in 2007 when he entered an international competition for able-bodied competitors and took part in the qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided Pistorius' prostheses gave him an unfair advantage over able-bodied competitors; however this verdict was overturned in May 2008.
Other notable medal wins in the Paralympic Athletics at the 2008 Games included three golds each for Brazil's Lucas Prado (100m, 200m and 400m T11) and South Africa's Hilton Langdenhoven (200m T12, Long Jump F12 and Pentathlon P12).
