Nick Gordon, Bobbi's Boyfriend Arrested

Nick Gordon, boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina, was arrested for speeding, according to TMZ. Authorities say Gordon was taken into custody in Alpharetta, Georgia, for going 82 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone last night. He was recklessly driving in a retail area known for high pedestrian activity.
A law enforcement source told TMZ, “We are fortunate because that’s such a busy corridor with high-end retail shopping, restaurants and pedestrians at crosswalks.”
Apparently Gordon’s arrest occurred just hours after Bobbi Kristina’s car accident. The daughter of Whitney Houston totaled her Camaro after losing control of the vehicle and plummeting down an embankment. The car hit several trees along the way, but Bobbi Kristina emerged from the accident fine. Police issued her a citation for failure to drive in her lane.

Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta For Ballon d'Or

Liga BBVA: Lionel Messi presents Ballon d'Or
FIFA and France Football have announced that Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo are the remaining three candidates in the running for the 2012 FIFA Ballon d'Or.

The Argentine has netted an impressive 82 goals since January, and needs only three more in 2012 to equal Gerd Muller's record of 85 strikes for club and country in a calendar year.

Messi helped Barcelona to the Copa del Rey in 2011-12, while also guiding Argentina to top spot in its 2014 World Cup qualification section.

Ronaldo played a key role in Real Madrid's Liga triumph last term with his 46 league goals, and also made it to the semifinals of Euro 2012 with Portugal.

Iniesta, meanwhile, triumphed with Spain at last summer's European Championship, as well as winning the Copa del Rey with the Blaugrana.

Messi previously won the Ballon d'Or in 2009, while also picking up the prestigious trophy in 2010 and 2011 after it merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year award.

Ronaldo emerged victorious in 2008, but had to settle for second spot in 2009 and 2011. Iniesta finished as runner-up in 2010.

Vicente Del Bosque, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have been nominated for the Coach of the Year prize.

Radamel Falcao, Neymar and Miroslav Stoch are the three candidates in the running to win the Puskas award for goal of the season, while Marta, Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan are in contention for the Women’s Player of the Year title.

Bruno Bini, Norio Sasaki and Pia Sundhage are the trio up for the Coach of the Year trophy in women's football.

The winners of all of the awards will be revealed at the FIFA Ballon d’Or gala as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on Jan. 7, 2013.

No More Europa League?

UEFA president Michel Platini has hinted that the Champions League and Europa League could face some major changes in the not too distant future.

The concept of the Europa League has come under fire in recent years as clubs from the so-called bigger leagues often field their reserves, and a number of recent reports have suggested that the competition could disappear completely, while the Champions League could be extended to 64 teams.

Platini had previously revealed that UEFA is looking into reforming both competitions, and he has now made it clear that a decision will be made in 2014.

"It is something that we are discussing," Platini told Ouest-France when questioned on the subject of shutting down the Europa League in favor of a 64-team Champions League.

"There's an ongoing debate about the concept of the European competitions between 2015 and 2018. It's being discussed and a final decision will be made in 2014. Nothing has been finalized yet."

Platini also took the time to discuss the possibility of a European superleague organized outside of UEFA, and stressed that he' was not too worried about the idea.

"This is a matter that regularly comes up, but it does not worry me to be honest. I can't see how it would work outside the framework of UEFA," Platini said.

He added, "Who would referee the games? Where would the games be played? Do a lot of people really want it? I don't think so."

Bale Denies Diving

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has denied allegations of diving, despite picking up a yellow card for simulation once again in the 2-1 victory against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

The Welsh wizard was instrumental in Spurs' success, putting the opener on a plate for Aaron Lennon after another trademark run before he added the second himself with a sumptuous free kick.

He did, however, put it into his own net in unfortunate circumstances after Lennon's attempted goal-line clearance inadvertently thumped the 23-year-old flush in the face before flying into an empty net.

But his performance was once again overshadowed as he received a caution from referee Phil Dowd after being adjudged to have simulated following a challenge from Daniel Agger.

"I thought I got clipped a little bit," he told Sky Sportsafter the game. "Sometimes it happens. You have just got to get on with it."

Spurs had previously suffered three successive defeats before the derby win over West Ham, and after back-to-back victories Andre Villas-Boas' side now sits fifth in the table above Everton and north London rival Arsenal.
"We are not too far off [where we want to be]," Bale added. "There were good results elsewhere for us tonight, which was important.
"We have just got to focus on ourselves, focus on game by game, and I think we are improving in every game."
